  • Is Dr. Parsons accepting new patients?

    Yes, she is currently accepting new teen and adult psychiatric patients, ages 16 and older located in Kentucky, Alabama, or Indiana.

  • Is Dr. Parsons board certified?

    Yes, she is tripled boarded in Psychiatry & Neurology, Consult Liaison Psychiatry, and Hospice & Palliative Medicine.

  • Does Dr. Parsons have a specialty?

    Dr. Parsons specializes in CL Psychiatry, which means she has had extra training in women’s mental health, ICU psychiatric care, psychooncology, psychodermatology, HIV psychiatry, and transplant psychiatry. She has expert training in psychiatric clearance for bariatric surgery and transplant. Dr. Parsons also specializes in Hospice & Palliative Medicine, which includes end of life care and psychiatric treatment of chronic pain or medical illness. She also practices Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation and has Fellowship training and additional experience in these prescribed treatments.

  • Is Dr. Parsons seeing patients virtually or in the office?

    She is seeing patients in the office and virtually at this time.

  • Are most insurances accepted?

    Dr. Parsons doesn’t contract directly with insurance companies. Cash payment or HSA (health savings account) payment is required at the time of treatment; you may then request reimbursement through your insurance company, under out network benefits.


    **Medicaid and Medicare patients are not allowed to be seen under this arrangement due to federal law.

  • How do I get reimbursement from my insurance company?

    Dr. Parsons' staff will provide a Superbill that includes receipt of payment that you can submit to insurance for reimbursement. If your insurance company needs to know CPT codes for visits, let them know that 90792/99203-5 (initial evaluation), 99213 (straight-forward follow-up), 99214 (complicated follow-up), and 90833 (psychotherapy add on) are the codes primarily used for most visits. 

  • What is the cost of a psychiatric appointment?

    The initial evaluation is $329 for a 45-minute appointment. Follow-up visits are $139 for a 20-minute appointment.

  • How do I make an appointment?

    You may fill out the “contact me” form on the website or call/text 502-509-5007. Dr. Parsons' staff will call you back the next business day.

  • How do I pay?

    One week before your appointment, an appointment reminder and payment link will be sent through email. If you are having difficulty with either link, please call or text 502-509-5007.

  • What platform does Dr. Parsons use for appointments and communication?

  • What do I do if I'm having a psychiatric emergency?

    Dr. Parsons runs a small, non-emergent outpatient practice. If you have any needs that can't wait until the next business day and/or if you are having suicidal thoughts, please go to your nearest emergency room or call 911.
